HOW TO APPLY

This course will provide comprehensive AI training that focuses on technical skills and creative development. The goal is to empower participants for successful careers in cultural media and technology, promoting cultural representation, addressing labor shortages, and diversifying the media landscape.

3-week online training program will cover:
- Basics of Generative AI technology
- Relevance of Generative AI in Media
- Language Translation and Voice Emulation
- CAMB.AI Platform Training

The program will include theoretical lessons, hands-on assignments, and a course-ending project.

Brought to you by Seeing Red, CAMB.AI, GREAT and Government of Ontario.

The program has a commitment of approximately 3 hours / day including instruction, activities or quizzes. All can be done at an individual's own pace. 3 weeks of material is expected to be completed within the 4 week timeframe. Virtual online support is available during 2 PM - 6PM EST Monday - Friday. We encourage participants to log on during live support hours to engage with instructors and ask questions.

Instructors will be available via email if needed or other accommodations can be made on a per person basis. A video session will be recorded and can be accessed at a later time. Participants have the option to come into the Seeing Red office to utilize our Internet services to complete the training or log-in from home if their Internet connection allows.

Eligibility Requirements:

- Proof of Indigenous descent
- Age 18+
- Able to provide SIN number
- Provide an email address to gain access to online training platform
- Basic computer skills
- Access to own computer/ laptop device with web capabilities

3. Do an intake interview with a Seeing Red or GREAT representative to determine financial aid support eligibility.
4. If approved, provide personal information to receive financial assistance amount.
5. Provide us with an email address so we can add you to our learning platform.
6. Receive an email with the invitation to join learning platform and set-up your account. See account set-up instructions.
7. Begin training!

This scholarship aims to break down financial barriers and empower Indigenous students to gain the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in high-demand trades.

Skilled Trades College of Canada (STC) was established to provide vocational training to individuals looking to begin a career in the skilled trades industry, focusing on safety, theory, and practical experience in simulated work environments. We are dedicated to offering hands-on certification programs to meet the increasing demand for skilled labour in Canada. STC offers programs in: Electrician Pre-Apprenticeship, Plumber Pre-Apprenticeship and Intro to Home Renovations Program out of their Cambridge Campus.

The Seeing Red Skilled Trades Scholarship may provide recipients with:

  • Tuition Assistance: Covering full cost of your program at Skilled Trades College of Canada valued at $15,000 CAD
  • Living Expenses Support: GREAT offers living allowance support up to $1,300 per month
  • Tools and Equipment Allowance:Acceptance into the Skilled Trades College program will equipment you with all the necessary tools and toolbelt for your program (varies depending on program)
  • Mentorship and Support Services:Connection with mentors, academic advisors are provided through Skilled Trade College and Indigenous support resources are available through GREAT
  • Potential for Internship/Apprenticeship
  • Placement Assistance: Support in finding practical, hands-on experience in your chosen field is provided by Skilled Trades College upon completion of your program.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Status First Nations or Inuit
  • Be accepted into or currently enrolled in a full-time skilled trades program at Skilled Trades College of Canada
  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Completed High School or Equivalent- or completion of Wonderlic Test for Mature student
  • Age 18 +
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Registered with Grand River Employment and Training (Six Nations Band Members Only)

To apply:

  1. Gather documents:- Photocopy of status card front & back
    - GREAT assistance application (applicable to Six Nations band members only)
    - SIN number
    - Copy of high school diploma
  2. Print out and fill the application form
